Introduction

Welcome to GuardTrac. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website and use our security guard management platform.

Tracking and App Tracking Transparency (ATT)

GuardTrac does not use tracking for advertising purposes, does not use IDFA, and does not link data collected in the app with third-party data for advertising nor share data with data brokers. As such, our iOS mobile apps do not present the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. If our practices change in the future, we will request consent via ATT prior to any tracking and update this Policy and our App Store disclosures accordingly.

No Sale / No Share (CCPA/CPRA)

GuardTrac does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).

Information We Collect

Personal Information

We may collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us, including:

  • Name and contact information (email address, phone number)
  • Company name and business details
  • Account credentials for platform access
  • Payment and billing information
  • Communication preferences

Usage Information

We automatically collect certain information when you use our services:

  • Device information (IP address, browser type, operating system)
  • Usage patterns and analytics data
  • Log files and system activity
  • Location data (when relevant to security guard tracking)

Location Data (Foreground and Background)

When a security guard is clocked into an active shift within the GuardTrac mobile app, we collect precise location data periodically in both the foreground and background to enable operational features such as reporting and analytics of patrol activity. Location collection pauses when the guard clocks out or the shift ends. Location data is not used for advertising, profiling for ads, or sold/shared with third parties.

  • Foreground collection: while the app is open and the guard is clocked in.
  • Background collection: while the app is in the background and the guard is clocked in.
  • Purpose: operational reporting and analytics for the employing security company.
  • Access: only authorized employer administrators can view employee location data.

Background Location

To provide continuous operational visibility during active shifts, the app may collect location in the background while the guard remains clocked in. Users can manage location permissions at any time in iOS Settings. If background access is disabled, certain shift reporting features may be limited.

Permission Requests

When a feature requires access to location, we use clear, neutral wording (e.g., "Continue") and proceed to the system permission prompt to allow the user to make an informed choice. Where helpful, we may display brief educational context before the iOS prompt; users can also adjust permissions later in Settings.

Explanation in the App

Within the app, we explain that location is collected only while a guard is clocked into an active shift and is not visible to employers outside of work hours. We also provide links to iOS Settings where users can review or change their location permissions at any time.
